
St. Bernards is pleased to welcome an exceptional group of physicians who will call Jonesboro home. Twelve new physicians are being added to our medical staff, with some joining us as early as March and others coming on board as late as this month. Among them are one each in neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics and radiology, and two each in emergency medicine, family practice, general surgery and geriatrics. All but one are new to Jonesboro.
“These additions to our medical staff represent our commitment to bring quality physicians to the region,” says St. Bernards Medical Center Administrator Chris B. Barber. “We consider each a ‘good fit’ both for our medical staff and for our community. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them as each roots his or her medical practice in Northeast Arkansas and assists us in fulfill our mission of delivering Christ-like healing to the community.

Jonathan L. Altomar, M.D.
Dr. Jonathan Altomar has joined Jonesboro Surgical Associates. He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. After completing a master’s degree in medical microbiology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, the general surgeon earned his doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He served a residency in general surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Gregory M. Buxton, M.D.
Dr. Gregory M. Buxton has joined Children’s Clinic. He is a graduate of Lyon College in Batesville. He earned his doctor of medicine from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and served a residency at the University of Missouri Columbia. He moves to Jonesboro from Pocahontas, where he has practiced at Corning Area Healthcare since 2001.
Traci L. Buxton, M.D.
Dr. Traci Buxton has joined First Care and is practicing at the First Care/Stadium Clinic. A graduate of Lyon College with a degree in biology, she earned her doctor of medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., and served a residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She comes to Jonesboro from Pocahontas where she has practiced at Pocahontas Family Medical Center since 2001.
S. Brooke Gibson, M.D.
Dr. Brooke Gibson has joined First Care and will practice at First Care/Matthews Clinic. Born in Arkadelphia, she holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and pre-medicine from Arkansas State University and earned her doctor of medicine degree from St. Matthews University School of Medicine, Grand Cayman, British West Indies. She has recently completed a family practice residency at the Area Health Education Center-Northeast, an arm of the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences which is housed at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Brinson B. Hargraves
Dr. Brnson Hargraves has joined Jonesboro Surgical Associates. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. She earned her doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and served a surgical residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
C. Don Johnson, M.D.
Dr. Don Johnson has joined the St. Bernards Emergency Department staff. Born in Covington, Ky., he holds a bachelor’s degree in premedical sciences from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. After earning his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Kentucky college of medicine in Lexington, he served a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital in Jacksonville. Following that he served a pediatrics residency at the University of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville. He comes to Jonesboro from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
Scott E. Kapulskey, M.D.
Dr. Scott Kapulskey has joined the medical staff of the St. Bernards Senior Health Clinic. Board certified in both geriatrics and family practice, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Rutgers Medical School. The New Jersey native served residency in family practice medicine at Memorial Hospital of Burlington County in New Jersey and comes to Jonesboro from Medford Leas Continuing Care Residential Community in Medford, N.J.
Elliott Landfield, M.D.
Dr. Elliott Landfield has joined the St. Bernards Emergency Department staff. He is a graduate of Antioch College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Sanford University School of Medicine. Board certified in emergency medicine, he comes to Jonesboro from Mississippi, where he has served on the emergency staff at hospitals in Corinth, Jackson and Union City.
Terry Lichtor, M.D.
Dr. Terry Lichtor joined Jonesboro Neurosurgery. Born in Kansas City, Mo., he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago in chemistry and a Ph. D. from the University of Chicago in pathology in addition to his doctor of medicine degree from The University in Chicago. He served a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Chicago and has held numerous academic appointments, most recently serving as an associate professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Rush University in Chicago. He is board certified in neurological surgery.
Cade M. Martin, M.D.
Dr. Cade Martin has joined Associated Radiologists. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and served a residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He recently completed a fellowship in neuroradiology at UNC at Chapel Hill.
Cristina Rosca, M.D.
Dr. Cristina Rosca has joined the staff at the St. Bernards Senior Clinic. A native of Bucharest, Romania, she earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest before coming to the United States to continue her training. She served a residency in internal medicine at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and residency in geriatrics at Loyola University/Hines VA Hospital in Chicago. She is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics and palliative care and comes to Jonesboro from Mercer County Hospital in Aledo, Ill.
Jeremy P. Swymn, M.D.
Dr. Jeremy Swymn has joined Dickson Orthopedics. A native O Paragould, he holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Arkansas State University. He earned his doctor of medicine from the University of Arkansas for medical Sciences and served a residency at Campbell Clinic in Memphis. He comes back to Northeast Arkansas after completing a sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
